THE
LIZARD MEN
Half
human, half dinosaur, these hybrid creatures are a smart but dangerous
bunch. Their civilisation is almost Roman in appearance. Even their ways
are similar to the ancient Romans - they have coliseum's and play slaves
off as gladiators. The lizardman we encounter most is Tribune a very
intriguing character if ever I saw one. Cunning, sly and very deceitful,
Tribune is a perfect example of what the Lizardmen are like. However,
sometimes, they are not all bad as Tribune showed in the episode
"All or Nothing". He saved Roxton's life for his own personal
gain, yes, but was more grateful than he seemed when they helped him by
"repaying" his gratitude.

THE
ZANGA TRIBE
The
Zanga are one of the peaceful and are one of the few friendly tribes to
Veronica and the explorers. They have been visited by many different
outside cultures over the centuries as evidenced by their proudly worn
collection of clothing, headgear and armour. Assai, the Zanga Chief's
daughter is Veronica's best friend. Indeed they have grown up together
since childhood in the Lost World. The Zanga Village serves as a refuge
to the team when the Ape Men attack and take Assai hostage. The Zanga
rally to protect everyone in their compound while planning her rescue.

CAVEMEN
(TROGLODYTES)
These
primordial creatures are quite often found in The Lost World. Whenever
the gang comes upon them, they appear to be hostile, savage creatures
who only want to eat our poor explorers. However, there is more to these
hairy flea-bags than meets the eye. In one episode, Veronica finds a
baby - a human baby - and is surprised to eventually learn that the baby
belongs to one of the cavemen's female mate. Unfortunately the father of
the baby is injured, but the female caveman was taken in by Veronica who
felt guilty about taking her child in the first place.

AMAZONS
These
delightful looking creatures (to some) have often been called
"Amazons". They are a small village of Warrior women who can
fend for themselves, cook for themselves and most certainly take care of
themselves. Strangely, there are no men around their village. The reason
for this is simple, but also disturbing; Every so often, the time comes
for the women of the Amazons to fight each other for entertainment, the
winner choosing a 'stud'. They must then mate with them and then do
something terrible - feed them to the local cannibals to keep them at
peace.

GIANT
BEES
Scared
of bees? So you should be if you come across any of this lot in your
back garden. About the size of a domestic dog, these critters have a
sting in there tails - literally. If they stab you with their stings,
you will be poisoned and quickly die. However, as the old saying goes,
for every rule there's an exception. You can be cured from this deadly
poison, but only by nectar from the hive, which means endangering your
life by venturing deep into the honeycombs of the hive, retrieving the
nectar and feeding it to the person who has been stung. Best to stay
indoors, I think.

ICEMEN
They
came from outer space... literally. A meteor crashed onto the plateau,
bringing forth these strangely coloured creatures. They cannot survive
in warm temperatures as they need icy cold temperatures in order to
survive. All well and good, yes, but unfortunately, once the meteor
crash, the cold that they need to survive on started to spread all
around the Plateau, and we all know that humans cannot survive in sub
zero (below freezing) temperatures let alone the other life on the
plateau (such as Dinosaurs and the other tribes). According to the
official site, they're "creatures" but they look human.

SEA
SERPENT
A
mythological creature that resembles what some would call a 'Wyrm' (a
dragon without wings). I suppose another example of a sea serpent is the
Loch Ness Monster. This sea serpent guards the waters that surround the
plateau of The Lost World. It can swim through even the shallowest of
sea waters and be unnoticed by those who are trying to escape by boat.
In the episode "into the fire", our explorers had to face one
of these beasts when they attempted to use a boat to escape the plateau.
As far as I know, the sea serpent generally lives off general sea life
(kind of like a whale would)

THE
WITCHES
There's
something about those lovely men in The Lost World that all the women
seem to like. However, they don't like them in the way we would. High on
the 'use them and lose them' theory, these three Witches lure poor Ned
Malone and John Roxton into their trap (guess you could say they 'had
them under their spell - ed). In the typical tradition of Witches (and
taking a slightly character build up from the 1993 film Hocus Pocus)
these three witches are all sisters. The leader is the serious, bitchy
one and the other two are more of the ditzy witch variety (and the
redhead gets to kiss Malone! Grrr)

VAMPIRE
WOMAN
Vampiric
in design but more brutal by nature, this brutal creature of the night
is a dangerous one to look out for on the plateau. First seen in the
episode "Bloodlust", this vampire-being bit Roxton, giving him
a thirst for not only blood, but also raw meat. A trail of dead raptors,
sabre tooth tigers and even people can be seen wherever this foul
temptress may go. She also has a very hypnotic way, luring others into
her trap - some might say she uses magical forces, others, pure beauty.
Either way, this vampire woman is most certainly evil. Keep the garlic
handy!

CELTIC
DRUIDS
No,
they're not a basketball team. These eerie looking creatures may remind
you of the Black Riders from Lord of the Rings, but they hold darker
secrets leading back to The Lost World's very own Marguerite Krux.
Performing sacrifice rituals at a place that looks alot like Stone Henge
(on the Plateau?!), the Druids date back to possibly BC times and are a
heavy religious cult. Turns out having Marguerite in a prophecy isn't
the only secret they hold about her. Not only does she have the birth
mark, but in "Trapped" she quite literally found herself in a
former life... entombed.

VOODOO
QUEEN
She's
sexy, she's cute, she's popular to boot... With cavemen who are under
her spell, anyway. Hardly something to be proud of. Beautiful but
brutal, this is the kind of woman that every man wants to get their
hands on, but no man wants to see the angry side of. When we meet her
she lures Roxton into her spell using voodoo, aiming to have him become
one of her zombified fanatics, who love her unconditionally. Luckily,
his friends were able to rescue him from the predicament.
